Gov. McDonnell knows how important it is to keep the lights on after school. Here's what he had to say:

"This governor enthusiastically endorses Lights On Afterschool and commits our state to engage in innovative afterschool programs and activities that ensure the lights stay on and the doors stay open for all children after school."

Afterschool advocates like you have been working tirelessly to make Virginia's Lights On Afterschool celebrations the best yet! So far, 180 celebrations have been registered in your state, but there's still more you can do to shine a light on the Virginia programs that keep kids safe, inspire learning and help working families.

Bob McDonnell has issued an official proclamation making Oct. 17 #LightsOnAfterschool Day! Share how you're celebrating Lights On Afterschool and the programs that keep our kids safe, inspire learning and help working families in Virginia!
